"Dr. Hollenberg is a most conscientious individual and a very able physician. He has stressed the need for a high level of spirituality along with compassion and competence. His unique illustrations, his study of and use of words is an unusual but effective method of making his points. Ed Hollenberg, M.D. is a family physician who lives with his wife, Jean, in Winamac, IN. He was born in India, the son of missionaries, Rev. Fred and Nora Hollenberg, who served for seven years before returning to the United States to continue their ministry through the Church of the Brethren in various locations. Dr. Hollenberg had been in private practice since 1955, including five years on the teaching staff at the University of Illinois School of Medicine Family Practice Residency program in Peoria, IL. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. He served on the Indiana Medical Licensing Board for eight years as well as on the Federation of State Licensing Boards.
After retiring from his family practice, which included obstetrics, surgery, and anesthesia, his lifelong interest in holistic medicine continues through his involvement in preventive medicine, marriage mentoring, his School of Response/ability for prisoners and probationers, stress management, and nutrition and allergy counseling.
His greatest joy, achievement and treasure have been his 58 year marriage to Jean, further blessed by their six wonderful children, all married to loving partners, and their 19 creative and energetic grandchildren. While family has always been first priority, he also enjoys nature, gardening, woodworking projects, time with friend, and planting and tending over 30,000 trees.
Ed and Jean live a rich life on their small farm in rural Winamac where they continue to be inspired by the miracles of growth and new life.
